Schools
Our unique Choir Creation Scheme is designed to help schools set up a choir or develop an existing one.
The scheme consists of 5 weekly one-hour workshops with the children and the teacher involved, followed by 15 minutes of one-to-one mentoring for the teacher. It is aimed at Key Stage 2 or 3 and can involve up to 100 pupils, though the optimum number is around 50. We need a designated teacher to take part in every session, a space, a piano and a projector…. that’s all! There is no charge for the workshops as the scheme is fully funded through our partnerships with regional music hubs and our other generous donors.
For more detailed information on this unique scheme, please visit our Choir Creation page.
Following the completion of the scheme the school will receive an invitation to take part in one of our gala concerts. Performances have included Carmina Burana at Warwick Arts Centre and Malvern Theatres with the Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra; Beowulf, by our composer-in-residence Toby Young.
Our schools have performed at the Royal Albert Hall – up to 2000 children singing together alongside professional singers, musicians and even on some occasions dancers from Strictly Come Dancing! Our choirs have also performed at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford.
