Safeguarding at Armonico Consort
At Armonico Consort, the safety and wellbeing of every child, young person and adult at risk involved in our work is our highest priority. We believe that everyone has the right to participate in music-making and education in an environment that is safe, inclusive, respectful and nurturing.
Our safeguarding policies and procedures set out clear expectations to ensure that all staff, freelance practitioners, volunteers and partner organisations understand their responsibilities and act in line with current legislation and national guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (DfE), the Care Act 2014 and the Online Safety Act 2023.
We are committed to promoting a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. This is underpinned by safer recruitment practices, regular training, clear reporting procedures and ongoing review of our safeguarding arrangements.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Nathan Cole, and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, Hannah Lant, oversee this work and ensure that any concerns are responded to promptly, appropriately and with compassion. This policy references the Online Safety Act 2023, ensuring compliance with current UK requirements. It is also informed by the Department for Education's current Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance and reflects its principles as appropriate to a non-school setting. Armonico Consort aligns its safeguarding practice with national statutory guidance and local safeguarding partnership procedures.
Chaperone Guidance
Our chaperones play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of all children taking part in Armonico Consort activities. They provide supervision, care and support throughout rehearsals, concerts and events, helping to create a safe, positive and inclusive environment for every participant.
This guidance outlines the responsibilities of both licensed and unlicensed chaperones, including safeguarding procedures, supervision ratios and conduct expectations in line with current safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and Armonico Consort's Safeguarding Policy.
All chaperones are expected to read and follow this guidance carefully to help us maintain a safe, inclusive and professional environment for every young performer.
