Patrons gather for Armonico’s Membership re-launch

Patrons, friends and supporters of Armonico Consort gathered at Malvern Theatres on Friday (6 December) at a performance of Handel’s Messiah, to join in the re-launch of our Membership scheme.

Armonico’s President Roger Medwell MBE DL, members of the Development team, and volunteers Elizabeth and Lawrence, were on hand to talk to audience members about the benefits of Membership and how a regular gift gives us the confidence to plan for the future and sustain our unique work.

Explore the benefits of Membership

“I became a patron in Armonico’s 21st birthday year.  I support a number of charities but no other arts/cultural groups and I thought this a worthwhile thing to do, not just to support the concerts themselves, but the outreach you do with children and the elderly.” Pam Stanier

As a registered charity with no state funding, we rely on the generosity of our patrons and benefactors to help us deliver our exceptional concerts and our many outreach programmes in schools and the wider community.

Membership income is vitally important to futureproof our in-school Choir Creation scheme, and after-school AC Academy choirs, our Memory Singers groups for people living with dementia and their carers and our compositional workshops with children with special educational needs.

“Having sung in choirs ourselves the chance to see live high quality choral repertoire is important to us. If we want to see groups like Armonico Consort continue then we have to support them – public funding for any arts in this country is abysmally, depressingly and embarrassingly low, if not non- existent.” Peta & Phil Sams

Christopher Monks, artistic director of Armonico Consort, said, “Membership fees provide us with unrestricted funds, which means we can fund projects that may be less attractive to other funders and make long-term, strategic plans based on the needs of our communities.”

Four different levels of Membership offer benefits from discounted CDs and early bird booking, to complimentary concert invitations, access to private masterclasses and exclusive receptions.

We were delighted to welcome five new members on the night and to welcome back a returning member too, with further people signing up in the days that have followed. Look out for our staff and volunteers at future concerts in Warwick, Malvern and Poole and find out more about the benefits of becoming a member from one of our friendly team.

“I’ve been attending Armonico concerts since moving here 13 years ago and I wanted to give something back.  It’s the varied performances that keep my interest and the range of works they perform.  I like to feel part of what Armonico do.  If I can’t sing with them, it’s my pleasure to be able to support them in what they are doing.” Pam
