A wheely big thank you

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

The bikes are back in the sheds, the saddle sores healing and the pennies have been counted and the fantastic news is that Oz & Armonico’s Great Bike Adventure has raised an incredible £14,000 to date.

Just think of all the school choirs that will help us create, how many children will have a chance to experience the joy of singing together and how many teachers we can support to become choir leaders.

This is a real legacy project and we can’t thank you enough for supporting it.

Here are a few highlights from the trip.

We left Coventry in beautiful sunshine

Singers from AC Academy Coventry saw us off

We cycled 200 miles and took in some spectacular scenery and landmarks like Salisbury Cathedral

We gave nine impromptu performances in pubs, cafes and a distillery

We downed an unspecified number of pints

And we arrived in torrential rain, triumphant but thrilled to have not just achieved, but smashed our £10K target.  We’re now up to over £14,000 from donations including bucket collections en route, via our Just Giving page and through Gift Aid.

Cheers to that!

Cycling singer Laura Moretto summed up the experience for her: “It was a privilege to be part of this cycling adventure. Many of the Armonico projects I sing for involve children from the schools already benefiting from this fantastic cause. I get to see first hand the sense of achievement the children have when family and friends erupt in applause at the end of a concert. Taking part in this weekend was a perfect opportunity to do my bit to ensure more children get access to music and to sing alongside professionals.

And our President, Roger Medwell MBE DL clearly felt he was having too much fun: “What an experience Oz and Armonico Great Bike Ride was!  Incredible places and views well off the beaten track, great food, great company, impromptu performances, what more could one ask for?  Plus raising £14000 for our great charity for the development of school choirs across our beautiful country! A 76 year old like me should not be having such a great and fantastic time!”

There are lots of videos and more photos from the route over at our Facebook page and there’s still a chance to donate to the campaign via Just Giving.
