Recordings

Armonico Consort’s choir and Baroque Players have collaborated with some of the finest musicians in world to produce eleven recordings, which have gained widespread critical acclaim for their innovative programmes and exceptional quality. Listen to a compilation of the best of Armonico's work here.

‘Naked Byrd’, released in 2009, was joined by ‘Naked Byrd 2’ in 2011. Both programmes are an indulgence of the greatest choral music ever written, where composers truly wore their heart on their sleeves and have been awarded five star ratings by The Independent and The Times. Dixit Dominus, a world première recording of the music of Francesco Scarlatti with Dame Emma Kirkby, which was hailed as one of the top five choral releases of 2004 by Gramophone Magazine.

‘Let The Bright Seraphim’ features leading Baroque soprano Elin Manahan Thomas, and acclaimed trumpet soloist Crispian Steele Perkins, and received four stars from The Independent.

Our most recent CD recording is ‘Greensleeves’, a collection of new arrangements of the very best in folk music from the length and breadth of the British Isles, with eight world-premiere recordings. It includes a cappella arrangements of Lisa Laan, Loch Lomond and of course perhaps the most famous British melody ever written – Greensleeves.

‘This splendid second volume in the Armonico Consort's Naked Byrd series continues the punning tradition of a cappella versions of choral pieces by composers who, in the words of the Consort's artistic director Christopher Monks, "wore their hearts on their sleeves".’
